    Overview: Drug & Alcohol Awareness is part of the Substance Abuse Awareness program, a knowledge-based training program that meets DOT & USCG guidelines for awareness-level training and education pertaining to crew members working in offshore safety sensitive positions.

    2hrs | CFR Reference:  DOT 46 CFR 16.401 & 391.119 | Course Required By:  DOT, USCG

    Course Objectives: At the end of Drug & Alcohol Awareness training, employees should be familiar with the Drug-Free Workplace Policy and aware of the dangers of alcohol and drug abuse. Employees should also understand:
    • The requirements of the Drug-Free Workplace Policy
    • The prevalence of alcohol and drug abuse and its impact on the workplace
    • How to recognize the link between poor performance and/or alcohol and drug abuse
    • The progression of the disease of addiction
    • What types of assistance may be available
    Written Exam: Written and hands-on competency will be evaluated at the end of each course. Incorrectly answered questions will be reviewed with student to ensure understanding before completion of course.
