Diver Medical Technician (DMT) Refresher
Course Length: 16 hours
Overview: This Diver Medical Technician program is designed to refresh life saving skills to professional rescuers who have obtained DMT certification.
Pre-requisite(s):
- DMT Certification
- AHA BLS-HCP (CPR)
- Current EMT-Basic at a minimum
Course Required By: Best practice
Course Objectives: Upon completion of this training the student will be familiar with the following topics:
- Cardiac arrest management
- Managing airway problems
- Obtaining and monitoring vital signs (B/P, Pulse, etc.)
- Performing initial patient assessment and ongoing assessment until advanced medical care arrives
- Documentation of emergency medical care
- Managing various traumatic and medical emergencies
- Diving physics
- Barotrauma injuries
- Decompression Sickness
- Adjunctive therapy
- Hyperbarics
- Women and diving
- Dangerous marine life
- Underwater work hazards
Written Exam: DMT refresher final exam minimum passing score 70%. Performance skills such as CPR, AED, bag valve mask, patient assessment, oxygen administration, soft tissue injury and airway management will need to be performed to complete the program. → Back to course listing
