Confined Space Entrant Attendant
Course Length: 8 hours
CFR Reference: 29 CFR 1910.146(q)(1), (i), (l) Overview: Employees must be trained when first assigned to duties in and around permit spaces; before there is a change in assigned duties; whenever there is a change in operations that presents a hazard; and whenever the permit-space entry procedures change.
Certification of such training must be available for inspection by employees or their authorized representatives.

Prerequisites: Confined Space Awareness training
Course Objectives: Upon completion of this training the student will be familiar with:
1. Describe the entry permit. 2. Discuss entry permit system. Communicate the system for preparation, issuance, use, and cancellation of the entry permit. 3. Describe the requirements for using alternate entry procedures. 4. Explain that some permit-required confined spaces can be reclassified to non-permit confined spaces. 5. Describe the hazards encountered while working in a confined space. 6. Instruct your workers on the proper use of equipment. 7. Discuss the communications procedures between entrant and attendant. 8. Explain the conditions under which an entrant must alert the attendant. 9. Explain the situations in which an order to evacuate is given. 10. Go over rescue and emergency procedures 11. Go through procedures coordinating entry procedures for multiple employers. Written Exam: SMS requires a minimum score of 70%. Incorrectly answered questions will be reviewed with student to ensure understanding before completion of course.
