Forklift Operator Safety Course Length: 5 hours

Overview: This course covers safety requirements relating to the design, maintenance, and safe use of forklift trucks. It is designed to help student learn to evaluate the workplace and determine if loads can be safely moved. It includes: inspection of the equipment, lift limitations; understanding fulcrum and center of gravity along with safe operation in all phases of using the lift. The student will be responsible for demonstrating the proper use and inspection of the lift he will be using.

Prerequisites: None required.
Course Objectives: Upon completion of this training the student will be familiar with: • The construction and proper use of a lift truck. • Demonstrate the ability to inspect a lift and determine if there are any deficiencies • Demonstrate the ability to safely operate a lift truck through moving and stacking loads properly
Written Exam: SMS requires a minimum score of 70%. Incorrectly answered questions will be reviewed with student to ensure understanding before completion of course.
Retraining: Three year reevaluation; where operator was unsafe in his operation or involved in an accident; operating of a different type truck; or workplace conditions change. → Back to course listing
