    Remote Paramedics "Expanded Scope":
The duties and clinical scope of practice of the contract paramedic have been expanded to meet the changing needs of the oil industry. Saving lives and providing expert care for the sick or injured remains the key thrust of the operation.

Our highly skilled paramedics are trained to render medical care and contribute to health, safety, and environmental initiatives of our clients. In addition to patient care, job duties are tailored to meet specific customer needs. Safety Management Systems  delivers competent medical personnel that become an intricate part of your work force. SMS remote paramedics provide other services that further contribute to safety, health, and operational efficiency, such as:
    • Provide administrative support to customers
    • Conduct site specific orientations
    • Provide compliance training
    • Facilitate and document safety meetings
    • Assist in conducting lifeboat, fire, and evacuation investigations
    • Inspect and maintain first aid stations
    • Coordinate emergency medical evacuation
To better prepare our paramedics to function effectively in remote locations, Safety Management Systems provides Medical Care Person in Charge (MCPIC) course to all of it's staff.  MCPIC is a 45-hour course designed to broaden the physical assessment skills of the paramedic to effectively evaluate nonemergency complaints and properly relay findings to our in-house medical director to recommend a course of treatment.  The focus is to educate the paramedic in identifying abnormalities, and then be the "eyes and hands" of the physician.
