  • Personal Survival Technique (PST) - Water Survival (STCW-95 USCG)

    Overview: The Personal Survival Technique (PST) - Water Survival program covers the requirements of the 1995 STCW Convention and Code. Successful completion of this course will satisfy the training requirements of Section A-VI/1 and Table A-VI/1-1 of the STCW Code and 46 CFR 10.205 (I)(1).

    Course Length: 12hrs | Course Required By: United States Coast Guard for STCW-95 Endorsement

    Course Objectives: Upon completion of Personal Survival Technique (PST) - Water Survival, the trainee will be familiar with:
    • Abandonment and survival
    • Types of lifesaving appliances carried on ships
    • Personal lifesaving equipment
    • Survival crafts and survival craft's equipment
    • Helicopter safety
    Prerequisites: This course is basic training for seafarers employed or engaged in any capacity on board ship as part of the ship's complement with designated safety duties in operation of the ship. There are no particular educational requirements. All trainees must be certified by a doctor to be in good health.

    Written Exam: A minimum written test score of 70% is required. Students that fail the test will undergo remediation and be allowed 1 retest. A second failure requires repeating the course before they may test again.
