HSE Technician : Safety
The HSE/Field Safety Technician serves to effectively moderate and improve communications and compliance pertinent to on-site safety. At Safety Management Systems, our goal is to provide convenient, cost-effective solutions for our clients. With that goal in mind, our safety technicians are highly motivated, experienced professionals dedicated to efficiently tailor a plan that fits your needs, in accordance with all project and site safety program specifications.

In cooperation with SMS and the contractor’s site management team, the HSE/Field Safety Technician works to ensure implementation of the project and site safety programs through:
- Demonstration and dissemination of knowledge in protocols, operational procedures and safety policies relevant to SMS and the petrochemical industry.
- Clear communications to promote, establish, and maintain any and all relevant safety expectations, policies, and rules, in adherence to contractor specifications.
- Facilitation of JSAs, Hot Work Permits, Cold Work Permits, Confined Space Entry Permits, Lockout/Tagout, etc.
- Participation in investigation and follow-up of incidents/accidents; preparation of notifications/reports for communication of significant incidents to SMS project/functional management via project incident reporting procedures.
- Administration of daily worksite safety meetings.
- Generation of reports for management and customers as needed.
In addition to the above responsibilities, the HSE/Field Safety Technician ensures compliance of:
- Regulations (customer, state, and federal) at land-based worksites by conducting risk assessments and inspections, and providing corrective/preventive measures.
- Licensing requirements by examining credentials, licenses, or permits.
- Site work permit system and area/system responsibilities by monitoring work processes.
- SMS safety requirements, regulations, expectations, and best practices by the advising site team: company, contractor, and subcontractors.
- Project and site safety program regulations by conducting regular safety inspections/assessments on-site (also available per site team member request), thoroughly inspecting the work environment, noting work hazards and safety violations, conducting safety audits, and reporting results to management as needed.
- Project safety mandates, implementing improvements as needed.
